PUREST ORANGE
California Poppies thrive along roadsides and other disturbed places in the Pacific Northwest, far from the incredibly showy poppy fields of southern California. I never tire of seeing them as they peak in flowering in late spring, but produce blooms throughout the summer.
For this photograph I laid on the ground so I was below poppy level, and used the cloudy sky as a white background for drama. This shows the clear orange color beautifully, with no other colors to dilute the impact.
