THE DARK AND SACRED NIGHT

This adobe church is a living church, not a museum, that is an important part of the community. It is also a spectacular photographic destination worthy of a pilgrimage. My personal journey had me return four times on an autumn day to record the various moods of this spiritual center, but my favorite pictures were made after dark, when the sodium lights lit the adobe in intense orange, with the stars glowing brightly above. As an added bonus, I had to back away from the tripod to avoid a skunk wandering around the grounds of the church while I was photographing in the dark.
