NORTH FORK SKOKOMISH RIVER IN AUTUMN
I spent four gorgeous autumn days photographing at this general location of the North Fork Skokomish River near the Staircase Campground. There were huge Bull Trout (a threatened species) spawning in the river, and the Bigleaf Maples were at their golden peak, making a lovely contrast with the glacial blue color of the river. I stood in my waders in waist deep water to get this photograph, in which I used an underwater housing for my camera. I love taking photographs like this, in which the underwater and terrestrial worlds are shown in their natural relationship. This was the finest in the series of photographs I did during these wonderful days of photography.
