LUMINOUS ASPENS
When I was in college a zillion years ago, there was a Sierra Club poster by Ansel Adams that was popular at the time. It showed luminous aspen trunks in sunlight at the edge of a New Mexico meadow, with dark shade behind. The aspen trunks were a spiritual revelation to me, and I have never viewed nature in quite the same way since. Ansel Adams' photographs of glorious Yosemite Valley were one thing, but for him to take such a mundane subject as an aspen tree and make it sing a spiritual song was a wonder. In this photograph, I sing a humble tribute to the effect Ansel Adams had upon me.
