MAPLES ON MAIN STREET
I grew up visiting the tiny village of Hersey, where the Muskegon River and my family's cabin were located. The town had a general store, recently burned down, and lots of scattered storehouse buildings where oak casks stored Vernors Ginger Ale syrup ("Aged four years in wood," said the advertising copy). The village hasn't changed much over the years; it is still a sleepy place that reminds us of our rural past. When I took this photograph, fog blanketed the snowy landscape. The line of Sugar Maples in front of the sprawling old home lend a sense of nostagia for days gone by.
