AMISH TRACKS
I spend the winter and spring months in Michigan, near an Amish community where people live much closer to the rhythm of the seasons than most of us do. I have witnessed ice harvesting, maple sap gathering, plowing with a team of horses, and all the other aspects of 19th century life that I feel a certain American sense of nostalgia for. Every day I go out in my car, I see Amish buggies going about their daily errands and am enchanted by the feeling of the past that this sight evokes.
