MEMORIES OF OLD SEATTLE
For several decades, this marquee along Seattle's 1st Avenue, across from the Seattle Art Museum, advertised its seedy product with funny marquee slogans, sometimes playing off the art museum's shows. For example, when the art museum was built, and a big statue called Hammering Man was installed, the marquee shouted "Hammer Away, Big Guy."
Alas, the peep show is now closed and the clever slogans a distant memory. This was one of the last couple of slogans to grace the marquee, and it was entirely appropriate to the occasion.
