MEMORIES OF HUCKLEBERRY AUTUMNS
When I photographed this landscape, I was camped in a basin below Yellow Aster Butte near Mt. Baker in Washington’s North Cascades. It was an unseasonably warm and beautifully sunny autumn day. We awoke to clear skies and a beautiful sunrise over the butte. The morning sun illuminated the scarlet huckleberries and Mountain Hemlocks, while leaving the mountainside cloaked in deep shade.
The huckleberries on that beautiful autumn day were easily the best I’ve ever had.
