WINTER STORM ON HURRICANE RIDGE
Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park is dramatic in the winter, as it catches the weather coming in off the Pacific Ocean. On this day we were snowshoeing in the deep snow atop the ridge, and hard rime ice coated the conifers. Tendrils of clouds were floating up out of the Elwha River Valley while snow fell from dark clouds overhead, looking almost like stars against the sky. It was a memorable day, and I consider this to be one of my most dramatic landscape photographs.
