KELP SHADOWS

As I walked down the ocean beach when the sun was sinking low, I was struck by the graceful lines within the tangles of bull kelp. A thought then occurred to me, that I could arrange a strand of kelp on a smooth rock, and show both the lines of the kelp and the blue shadows cast on the rock. The results were wonderful, and I played around with the composition until I arrived at this one. The blue shadow toward the bottom of the frame feels almost like the lines of a pictograph of an early warrior.
