WINTER ETCHING
I was walking a trail along the Muskegon River when I looked up to see this classic old home surrounded by bare winter trees. It struck me immediately as an etching or gouache painting, but I don’t work in those media so I instead took a photograph. The house has stories to tell, with its additions through the years, and the trees have undoubtedly seen generations of children grow up and leave home. The scene reminds me of Andrew Wyeth, if Wyeth had painted in the midwest instead of in Pennsylvania and Maine.
