AMISH GATHERING
The old-order Amish near my Michigan home go about their lives in ways foreign to most Americans. They live by strong religious rules, but do not try to tell their English neighbors how to live. They send their children to one-room Amish schoolhouses and worship in each other’s large farmhouses. On this Sunday morning, there were perhaps 40 buggies parked in front of an old farmhouse with the snow falling all around. It was magical. On days other than Sunday, I can purchase eggs and maple syrup from this Amish farm.
