WATER COLOR 13:
Cobalt & Apricot

Ocean waves just keep rolling in, so it's challenging to photograph them without simply freezing the action. In contrast, standing river waves - where the current flows over rocks on the stream bottom - stay in one place, so I can use a long exposure to give a sense of the river's movement. This photograph, taken in Michigan's Upper Peninsula on a glorious autumn day, catches the reflected light off a vibrant red maple and the clear blue sky. I love the soft blending of warm and cool tones.
