TUMBLING STONES 6:
Blue Stone Group

When I gathered and composed these stones on a Lake Superior shore I was envisioning the contrast between the dark basalt and the white quartz. When I developed the film, I was struck by the blue reflections on the lower side of each stone. What happened, I think, is that there were clouds overhead that muted the reflections, but on the northern horizon there was a broad band of brilliant blue sky. The blue reflects on the lower side of each stone.

Recognizing an opportunity, I enhanced the blue color when I printed it. The result is otherworldly, but interesting.
