Sometimes a natural scene is basically a postcard view: beautiful but with not much beyond the pretty face. At other, rarer times, we can get a glimpse into the infinity of the universe. This photograph does that for me.

The setting is the shore of Lake Michigan at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Recreation Area; I am looking down at the lake on a sunny day with the waves rolling gently in. I used a polarizing filter to remove distracting reflections, then underexposed the scene so that I would get a patten of sun sparkles off the waves.

The result is a view that can be interpreted as a view of the lakeshore--or a gaze into the heavens. I love photographs that can be interpreted in several ways, and this is one of my best in that genre.
