BARRED OWL IN SAX-ZIM BOG
We went to Sax-Zim Bog north of Duluth to try and find Great Grey Owls. Alas, they remained hidden from our binocular-enhanced eyes. But at our first stop along a road into the bog, fellow birders pointed out this Barred Owl sleeping off a hangover right next to an active bird feeder, where Boreal Chickadees, Pine Grosbeaks, and other cool birds seemed to sense no danger!
