THE GALAXY WE CALL HOME
I set the alarm for 12:30 a.m. after crawling into the sleeping bag early, and I actually had the gumption to get up and work with my camera for over an hour. It was magical! This was one of those places that is so far away from everything human that the stars and the milky way looked close enough to touch. It helped that the moon was in its new phase and even that hadn’t risen yet.
I decided to work with a fisheye lens so I could get the whole horizon of trees around me, as I stood in the middle of a subalpine meadow. It is simply incredible how many stars are in the Milky Way; care to count them?
