Winter in Seattle usually brings rain. When an overnight snowstorm hit the city, I crossed Puget Sound by ferry to experience the urban environment in a new mood. I tramped all over the city, and was passed by a couple of people skiing to work. There were buses sliding and snowmen being made and big fat flakes in the air. It was wondrous!
For this photograph I visited the gritty neighborhood of Pioneer Square, where even the alleys looked relatively clean–transformed on this winter day.
