While traveling along the Avenue of the Giants in northern California, I pulled over at a wide spot in the road, where there was room for a couple of cars to park, and got out to stretch my legs under the great Coast Redwoods. A trail led beguilingly into the forest, and before long I was taking a hike among the giant trees. The path led through a ground cover of Oregon Sorrel, with ferns and the giant trees rising above the forest floor. It was all thoroughly enchanting, and this was my favorite photograph from that day.v
