As a moody photographer, one thing that attracted me to Seattle was the gray skies, so I like to take advantage of the formless blanket of light gray as a background for some of my pictures. When I photographed these Sweetgum leaves at the peak of autumn, the sky cooperated with an almost white background of clouds, which really allows the scarlet shades to shine.
