Walking and looking describes my life as a photographer; for this photograph I had just completed jogging around the lake and decided to take my camera for a short walk along the shore.
I first tried photographing the park’s squirrels, but a dog owner decided it would be funny to let his dog off-leash to chase the squirrel I was photographing at close range. What a jerk!
I turned my attention to the park’s crows, which are so used to seeing people and picking up spilled food that they don’t even bat an eye when a photographer saunters along. They had been feeding and needed to drink afterward, so they chose this remnant puddle on the path, left from rain the day before. The interesting part was the color of the puddle: from where I stood, it reflected the spring green trees overhead, making for a terrific composition.
