"Think of a photograph as an insight into the soul of the world; with the special ability to transform your mood, take you to faraway places, and renew your sense of wonder." Lee Rentz

I have begun a weblog based upon my travels and photography that will include photographs and stories. It is a good place to learn the stories behind my new photographs and to see some quirky sights along the road. Go to: LEE RENTZ PHOTOGRAPHY WEBLOG Two of my photographs of the northwoodsa Mink Frog and a Black-backed Woodpeckerhave appeared in a new book published by Willow Press, Call of the Northwoods. A photograph I took in the eastern Oregon desert of the cliffside homes of Cliff Swallows was published in January 2008 in a book authored by Mike Hansell, Built by Animals. A winter photograph was included in the book Bryce Canyon National Park: A Visual Interpretation, written by Nicky Leach. So far in 2008, I have photographed in the Mississippi Delta and along the Natchez Trace Parkway. You can read further about these travels in my weblog, linked above. Lee Rentz |

| I found this Three-toed Box Turtle along the Natchez Trace Parkway in Mississippi. To get an eye-level shot of the turtle, I laid down on the groundand promptly stuck my elbow into a Fire Ant nest. The elbow immediately felt like it had an electric current running through it and I shot up from the ground, brushing away ants furiously. I later counted 22 stings on my right elbow. | A Bur Oak photographed using infrared film in the Loess Hills of Iowa. This photograph, entitled "Heaven's Gate," has become my most popular black-and-white photograph. | |||||||||||||||
