Dr. Pierce's Tonic

I have now seen barn-side ads for Dr. Pierce's liver tonic in Utah, Oregon, and Washington. I'm pretty sure these pleasant pellets are no longer available on the shelves of your local general store, but perhaps an equivalent is available in the herbal remedies section of the drug store.

This barn is located in the quaint village of Cottage Grove, Oregon. I understand that, although the farm was sold a few years back, a covenant was placed in the deed of sale that requires the new owners to maintain the historic barn sign.

The first barn I saw with this message was in 1975 in Cache Valley near Logan, Utah (and I doubt that overconsumption of alcohol contributed to the need for a liver tonic there!). I looked for that sign on my most recent visit to Cache Valley, but I think the land where the barn once stood has been turned into a subdivision.
