Willow Impressions

Impressionism need not be limited to a style of painting; some of my favorite photographs capture the feeling of a time and place without being a static depiction of that location.

In this photograph I was viewing the sparkling waters off a pond in upstate New york, specifically at Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge between Syracuse and Rochester. The time was late autumn, and there were just a few leaves still clasping the willow stems. Using a long telephoto lens with the aperture wide open, I was able to catch this pattern of sparkles and stems that comes together as an artisitc impression of nature.

This is a limited edition photograph printed using pigmented inks on archival paper — designed to last for generations. I use a single white mat for the 8 x 10" size, and double mats for both larger sizes, with a very light gray outer mat and an appropriate blue inner mat — using archival, acid-free matboards.

**For the two smaller sizes I use Tru Vue Conservation Clear (UV-filtering) glass [high-tech, optically coated Tru Vue AR (anti-reflection) glass available for $30 additional].

***For the larger photograph, I use an elegant walnut frame with an ebony finish, and Tru Vue AR (anti-reflection) optically coated glass that is virtually invisible.
