When Rocks Dream

On my last morning in Joshua Tree National Park, I realized that I had spent all my time photographing lizards, tortoises, coyotes, and the like. I had not yet captured the elemental rock forms that give this park its special character. So I set out with camera and tripod. Within 50 yards of my camp, I stumbled upon this rock, which the sun highlighted "just right." The sight of it cracked me up and I photographed it with a big smile dimpling my cheeks. Everyone has their own special name for this image; if you come up with a name you think especially appropriate, email your idea to me.
