SEVEN BIRDHOUSES IN NEWFOUNDLAND
Newfoundland is known for its little waterfront sheds known as stages, which fishermen used to store their gear and do maintenance and process their catch. This shed was a bit far from the water for that, but it was about the same size and used the same kind of simple clapboard architecture. What struck me about this one was the birdhouses attached high on the face of the building. There were seven identical boxes in a whimsical arrangement that touched my heart. I suspect that this was a little store, perhaps used seasonally for selling the fresh catch.
