FOREST GUARDIAN
I should have had a career as a fire lookout, the perfect place for an introvert. Alas, life took me in different directions, so now I visit old lookouts whenever I can, and my wife and I have rented lookouts on a couple of occasions. This one is in Montana and overlooks a 360 degree view of ridges and mountains covered with vast forests. We stayed two nights, and enjoyed everything about the experience except for descending 60 wooden steps in the middle of the night when nature called!
The U.S. Forest Service rents out the tower, since it is no longer regularly used for firespotting, and even provides propane lights and heat for visitors. Just imagine being up here on a beautiful starry night!
Location: Up Up Lookout, Montana, USA
