PASSAGEWAY
Main Streets in small towns are often charming, with all the stores putting on their best faces for tourists and locals alike. But as a photographer I like to go down the side streets and into the alleys behind the shops, where I find utility poles, fire escapes, graffiti, stray weeds, and a clash of unusual colors. To this photographer, the visual interest of these places more than makes up for the utilitarian clutter. I find this picture, with its clash of colors and poles and the back sides of buildings, to be a good example of the unexpected beauty I search for.
