CAUGHT IN A MOMENT OF GRACE
After jogging around Seattle’s Green Lake, I took some time to take some photographs. The Sweetgum trees along the west shore of the lake were in resplendent autumn color, and I photographed the trees catching the late afternoon sun. Then I noticed that some of the fallen Sweetgum leaves were caught in the reeds at the edge of the lake. Taking a cue from nature-the-designer, I found the best leaf I could, then carefully arranged it in the reeds.
I love the parallel lines of the reeds, and the intense color and intricate shape of the scarlet leaf. Together, they make a powerful composition against the lake, which was reflecting a cloudy Seattle sky.
