ANGEL WINGS
We had heard about this little bird, a Tufted Flycatcher, in a rare bird alert. Since we were going to be visiting southeast Arizona in search of birds anyway, we decided to drive up the incredibly steep road leading to the campground where this little creature had set up a territory and was being seen almost every day.
There are now so many birders and photographers that a rare bird sighting turns into a zoo. Fortunately, this little bird wasn’t much affected by its celebrity, and it continued to flycatch and sing constantly as scores of people watched it. Later in the day, after everyone else had left, the flycatcher came into our campsite as if to say “Can you come out and play?” I did, and that’s when I quietly took my best pictures of this little soul.
