PRAIRIE SPIRIT
As the sun was starting to set over the mountains, a small band of American Bison wandered through Mormon Flats, in Grand Teton National Park. Bone dry, the sagebrush flats were dusty enough that some of the Bison decided it was a good time to take a dust bath. An individual would sink to the ground, roll over onto its back, and wriggle in the dust, sending clouds of fine debris into the air. When caught by the setting sun, the dust formed a kind of halo around the Bison, giving these magnificent animals a special aura.
