WATER COLOR 20: Brilliant Splinters
Capturing colors reflected on moving water has long been one of my specialities, but it is rare that everything comes together at the right time and place. It had been four years since I last photographed moving water effectively, and I was beginning to think that I had lost my touch.
But then I returned to Michigan’s Bond Falls, one of my favorite places to photograph falling water, in October. And there it came together, with one brilliant Red Maple reflecting where the Ontonagon River zooms over a rock ledge. I used a long exposure to make the details smoother–and to give the photo an almost surreal look.
