SKOKOMISH FOREST
It was November, when the Olympic Peninsula winter rains have begun in earnest. Between showers and avoiding flooded roads, we drove up high into the Olympic foothills above the Skokomish River. We ascended above the mist, where we saw the thriving second-growth conifers also rising above the mist. It was a primeval scene, and a reason why we love this place on the frontier of Puget Sound‚ which is not far from Seattle by air, but oh-so-far away in spirit.
