THREE SHEEP
Amish farmers have their hands in several enterprises at once to make a living. In this photograph the farmer is raising sheep and has greenhouses in which he is growing flowers in hanging baskets to sell at a farm store. Other nearby farmers make rustic furniture, tap maple trees for syrup, make hunting blinds, raise chickens and sell eggs, make baked goods, slaughter hogs, and a whole host of other farm-based businesses. They seem to thrive, and the farms are busy with activity all winter–in contrast to nearby non-Amish farms, which appear to go into hibernation each winter.
