DECO DOOR
This entrance to a famous cigar store has one of the purest expressions of the art deco style that I have ever seen. Streamlined and stainless steel, the look appealed to people looking for the future. Butte, Montana, is a mining town, and it has been a mining town for generations. In the past, there was a lot of wealth there, and the architecture displays a variety of styles that show the changes in fashion over the years. There are brick buildings several stories tall and places where architects decided to cover over the classic brick with a skim of turquoise aluminum panels. I love all the stories that the buildings tell me.
