BLONDIE
While driving down a sand road in the fog, I came upon a band of Amish work horses grazing in the winter corn stubble. I got out to photograph them because I liked the foggy background behind the animals. As soon as I approached the fence all the horses sauntered over to check me out; some were sleek, fine-boned black horses, used to haul the black Amish buggies on their errands to neighbors or to school. Others were massive work horses, used for plowing and hauling heavy freight wagons laden with ice or hay. That’s what this blondie was, with its golden overall color and striking blond mane.
