AMISH HORSE IN A BLIZZARD
In many ways, the Amish live much as many Americans did in the 19th century, and are thus dependent upon horses to be partners in work and transportation. The work horses are big and incredibly powerful; it is amazing to see a team of these horses pulling a gang plow through the tough fields.
For this photograph, I ventured out in a blizzard to photograph whatever I could find in the Amish community near my Michigan winter home. This black horse appeared like an apparition in the blowing snow.
