OLYMPIC MEADOW
With two companions, I hiked from the trailhead up into the clouds hanging around Mount Townsend. We were supposed to have views out from the mountain on this early summer day, but alas, it was not to be. We hiked up higher and higher through mountain meadows in the mist, with tiny water droplets clinging to every leaf and wildflower. At the top of Mount Townsend, I spent a couple of hours on my belly, photographing lupines and Olympic Bellflowers and Prairie Smoke to my heart's content, taking some of my best wildflower closeup pictures ever.
