HORNED PUFFIN
I journeyed to Alaska’s Round Island to see thousands of Pacific Walruses, but a side benefit was the opportunity to see two kinds of puffins at close range. This Horned Puffin, and its friends, were often perched on a rocky cliff about 50 yards from my campsite. I was able to linger and watch them several times, and caught them in beautiful light. The Horned Puffin is named for the “horns” extending up the side of the head from above the eyes.
