PRAIRIE WARBLER
During spring migration, this tiny Prairie Warbler crossed an expanse of open saltwater and landed in Dry Tortugas National Park, in a fort created before the Civil War. It may have come from Cuba, or another of the Caribbean islands, and it was bone-tired from its journey. But onward it must go, and the next morning it would have made the flight to the Florida Keys, and then on to the north central states, where it would nest. Quite a journey for a tiny and colorful bird!
