MEANDERING THROUGH A MEADOW

This meandering and wonderful trail was built in Yoho National Park by an Italian immigrant named Lawrence Grassi. He was a coal miner and later a park warden who became renowned for the beautiful rockwork he did on high country trails. He artistically placed these stones, which provide an enticing route across the meadow and also preserves the meadow from trampling. Grassi became a legend in the Canadian Rockies, not only for his trail-building but also for his mountaineering and incredible strength. His trails have already lasted for generations.
