WHISTLE STOP ON THE GREAT PLAINS
Grain elevators are the tallest structures in most towns on the Great Plains. Some are concrete, but my favorite ones are the old square ones sheathed in corrugated steel. This one has a particularly charming and quirky shape. Farmers sold their wheat to the elevator company, which stored it for a time, then shipped it to market via rail. Can't you imagine an old steam train stopping here?
