GLACIAL PORTAL
There are times in a naturalist’s and photographer’s life that are so extraordinary that they remain in the mind forever. On this trip to Iceland we went with a guide to an ice cave that led into a massive glacier. The ice was scalloped from melting, and varied in all shades of translucent blue, aquamarine, and green colors. This photograph was at the entrance of the ice cave; we also accompanied the guide deep along a narrow passageway carved and melted by the warmth carried by a glacial stream. It was stunning, and was still another reminder of the sublime and extraordinary beauty of our planet.
