NIGHT SKY OVER FLATEYRI, ICELAND
We journeyed across Iceland in winter, hoping to see the northern lights, which we had only occasionally glimpsed in the past.
Our guest house owner in Flateyri suggested a place to see and photograph the northern lights near an old whaling station on the route into town. We got there and the Aurora Borealis showed itself, along with the lights of the town reflecting off the cloud and the mountains, which lends an entirely different feeling than found in my other northern lights pictures.
The Aurora Borealis is such a spiritual experience, and is rare enough that it always awakens a feeling of wonder and awe.
