DAY'S END IN THE OREGON OUTBACK

While traveling up through eastern Oregon to Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, we passed these golden autumn hills illuminated by the setting sun. I stopped the van and quickly took a series of pictures before the sunlight faded, which happened within seconds. To me, this scene captures the romance of the western cowboy country, with the cattle grazing against a backdrop of the Old West.
