COUNTRY ROADS, TAKE ME HOME

While traveling through rural Indiana, I came upon this farmhouse with four pumpkins arranged on the porch railing. The house's warm yellow color and the porch with pumpkins captured a dreamy vision of rural America. I saw a young woman outside and stopped to ask her if I could take some pictures of her house. She agreed, and she went to work in the garden while I photographed. She and her husband were a couple of wonderful late-blooming rural hippies who were trying to live a simple life on the land. I came away refreshed by a memorable experience, and what I consider a wonderful rural picture.
