INTO THE MYSTIC MIDWEST

Fog and bare winter trees are an elegant combination in black-and-white. When I photographed this forest, I was visiting Michigan during the Christmas holidays. It was a quiet winter day, with mist rising everywhere from the snow blanketing the landscape. Everywhere I looked on that mystic day, I saw photographs that had magic. In this photograph, if you look closely, there are two deer bedded down on the snow in the distance.
